Compass Minerals Announces Specialty Fertilizer Leadership Transition

December 13, 2011

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 13, 2011-- Compass Minerals (NYSE: CMP) has announced that Ron Bryan, vice president and general manager of the company’s specialty fertilizer business, intends to begin a retirement process that will commence with a transition to a part-time role starting January 1, 2012. At that time he will assume the title of vice president, strategic projects, working on key strategic projects and providing transition assistance to his successor.

“Ron has been a strong leader during his tenure at Compass Minerals. Under his guidance, our specialty fertilizer business has grown from annual revenue of approximately $100 million in 2005 to almost $200 million over the last twelve months,” said Angelo Brisimitzakis, Compass Minerals president and CEO. “We are pleased that he has agreed to continue to contribute to Compass Minerals’ profitable growth strategies after this transition.”

Mr. Bryan became vice president and general manager of the specialty fertilizer business in January 2005. He joined the company in 2003 as vice president of highway sales in the North American highway deicing business following a successful career at Borden Chemicals where he served as a senior vice president.

The company is conducting an external search to identify a new vice president and general manager of specialty fertilizers and anticipates that a successor will be named in early 2012.
